Northern California's Casting for Recovery (CFR) and the El Dorado Chapter Trout Unlimited (TU) hosted a fundraising event on August 17 at the Camino Wine Plaza, 3500 Carson Road. Free wine tasting was provided by Findleton, Illuminare, diVittorio and Beemer Wineries. The Stumble Inn Pub donated a portion of food sales. Many local businesses and some larger ones were generous in donating goods and services for auction and raffles. Over $2,000 was raised to send cancer survivors to CFR's retreat along the Trinity River. Items auctioned and raffled off included fly fishing gear, original art work, dinners, barrel wine tasting, spa treatments, lodging and a host of services to pamper the most discriminating person. CFR is a non-profit support and educational program for women of all ages and in all stages of breast cancer. CFR promotes mental and physical healing for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by breast cancer.
